Rulebook

Our story

We built the place we were looking for.

For more than ten years, board games have been part of our lives. Not just something we occasionally played, but the reason to gather around a table, stay up far too late, meet new people, argue over strategies, discover new games and create the kind of stories that somehow get retold years later.

There was only one recurring problem: finding somewhere to play. A table at home wasn't always available. Cafés weren't designed for a game that might stay on the table for three hours. Bars were noisy. Tables were too small. Closing time came halfway through a game.

We kept wishing there was simply a proper place for it. Eventually we asked: why don't we build it?

That's how Rulebook began — not as an idea invented around a business plan, but as a place we genuinely wanted to exist ourselves.

The best part of board games was never the cardboard, the miniatures or the dice. It was always the people around the table.

What the café is built around

Tables made for playing

Deep play surfaces, cup holders, space for components — furniture designed around a three-hour game, not against it.

Staff who teach

Everyone behind the bar knows the library. Recommending and teaching games is part of the service, not a favor.

Time, not turnover

Settle in with a game. Session duration and extension conditions will be confirmed before opening.

Everyone at the same table

A 100-game collector and a total beginner should both feel this place was made for them. It was.

Come play.

Bring your regular group. Bring someone who's never played before. Come for a quick game over coffee or lose an entire evening to something epic.

And if you don't know what to play, ask us. We've spent more than ten years figuring that part out.
